No matter where you sat at Fashion Week this year, you no doubt got the memo on one of the biggest trends this Fall…fringe! And though the 70s gave birth to the daring and free-spirited frayed edges, fashion is enjoying another go at this fun trend. But guess what? You can too! And we’ve got 5 genius and fool-proof ways to rock some fringe this Winter.
- The fringed poncho or draped cardigan – Fringe here is generally going to be made from the same cotton-based material as the poncho or cardi it adorns, but it still counts! It adds a delightful, Earthy feel.
- The fringed skirt – The fringed skirt will be out in stores in full force this season, and in all variations of length. That includes both length of skirt and length of fringe! You can opt for a shorter skirt with shorter fringe, or a shorter skirt with longer fringe (to give the illusion of a longer hemmed skirt). Fringe can also be seen higher up on skirts, which helps to define and compliment your waist.
- The fringed bootie – There’s no surprise here…booties of all shapes and styles have been huge this season…but the fringed bootie is where it’s at! No matter the heel height, a bit of leather fringe can increase the sassy factor by 1000!
- The fringed purse – In general, the big trends in purses this season can be seen with the cross-body satchel, the backpack, and the oversized clutch. Make those even more interesting by letting them add a pop of color to your outfit. And then, to top it all off, when you add fringe, you have an instant trifecta of fashion fabulousness!
- The fringed jacket – This is the all-time fringe benchmark! In the 70s, the long fringed sleeveless vest was the hottest thing going. In the 80s and 90s, the fringed bomber jacket was a must-own wardrobe staple. Now, however, there is just nothing cooler or edgier than a sexy fringed moto jacket. No matter if you go for the leather or the suede look, either works incredibly well with just about any outfit you can muster up, from jeans and a simple tee, to a sleek pencil skirt with a tailored blouse.
