Alternative Bridesmaid Fashion

Bridesmaids have accompanied the bride down the aisle for as long as we can remember historically in dresses similar to that of the bride, as legend has it so as any evil spirits would be confused and not jump onto the bride herself. These days bridemaids often wear different dresses to the bride, usually much more colorful and relating to the general color scheme of the wedding. More and more brides are looking to find their own style and wanting to dress their bridesmaids in something a little different than the standard bridesmaid dresses, and today we are going to look at different ways you can dress your bridesmaids so they still look stunning but they stand out and look original too.

  1. A short, summer dress:

Summer dresses are a great option when it comes to bridesmaid dresses and especially so if you are getting married in the summer. Patterns or floral printed dresses work well at vintage themed weddings or you can opt for block colored dresses too if you are looking to fit in with the color theme of the wedding.

  1. Different maxi dresses:

Maxi dresses are a great option for a bride on a budget and they give the same illusion as a more expensive long ball gown but at a fraction of the cost. You will however want to be picky about which maxi dresses you pick, something that is a little more elegant and a little less casual will work perfectly at a summer wedding.

  1. A maxi or midi skirt with a top:

If you are still looking for a look with some length but want to come away from the idea of maxi dresses or longer ball gowns then why not choose a maxi skirt and pair it with a top or, if you are looking for something shorter, choose a midi skirt instead. The great thing about this style is that you can have all your bridesmaids wearing the same skirt and change the tops to suit their figure and style, and a lace style top will look great with this option. You will still have all your girls matching, to an extent, and they will all feel comfortable in their dresses too.

  1. Mix and match:

Another brilliant offbeat theme for the bridesmaids is have them all dresses in different dresses, a mixture of some of the girls in long dresses, some in short dresses and some in skirts and tops. Maybe you might want to consider the same dress but all in different colors or another option is all your bridesmaids in the same dress in the same color with your maid of honor in the same dress but a different color.

Whatever you are looking for and whatever you prefer that is your choice. There is so much pressure on brides these days with everyone wanting their say on what bridesmaids should and should not wear. If you love it then go for it, it is your wedding day after all.
