Chic Menswear Trends for Spring 2016

If you were thinking that Spring trends were just for women’s clothes, no way! Runways were full of bold and bright fashion offerings in menswear as well, and these trends are sure to breathe new life into your wardrobe, just in time for warmer Springtime temps!

Window Check – Pattern is always a must, especially for Spring, since it just makes everything feel more lively. But this Spring’s trend is seeing a larger, boxy print in the form of a bold windowpane. It can either be seen as the highlight, as in this stunning sport coat, or it can be seen in the incorporation of a larger checked print, for example, in ties like this and this. And don’t forget dress shirts like this as an easy way to add the pattern into an outfit.

Waistcoat – The waistcoat is the definition of dapper, but this season, the waistcoat is far more versatile! Of course a waistcoat like this can be worn in conjunction with an uber-classy suit, creating the more formal 3-piece variety. But you could also wear a waistcoat to dress up an otherwise unassuming shirt and pair of chinos or dress pants. And waistcoats like this and this also take their cue from the windowpane trend…a doubly-stylish bonus!

Color and Colorblocking – Spring just wouldn’t be Spring if we couldn’t happily retire the dark, heavy wools to the back of the closet and bring forward a bit of color! And talk about color…suits like this and this will banish all memories of the Winter doldrums. You could also add a dash of color with bold pants like these and these, or sport coats like this and this.

Wider Ties – Spring 2016 menswear trends are moving away from skinny ties, to wider, more classic styles in neckwear. Of course, you could check more than one fashion box by also opting for bright, colors, like this, this, and this, or fun patterns like this quirky frog or a classic paisley.

Hats – We’re not talking baseball hats or pageboy caps here. We’re talking a return to the exquisite classics …Panama hats and fedoras. Straw hats like this Panama, or fedoras like thisthis and this, will fit right in with the bright Spring sunshine. But then again, there’s a lot to be said for a light wool fedora too, since they work so well with night-time outfits and dinner wear. This way, you’re sure  to look debonair day or night!
