How to dress a pear body shape

If you identify with a pear shaped body you will be familiar with being smaller on top while having a larger bottom section. A pear shaped body is the most common female body shape and if your hips and backside are wider than your shoulders then you too have a pear shaped bod which is sometimes referred to as a triangle. You can be tall, short, skinny or more voluptuous and still be pear shaped. Pear shaped bodies tend to have a smaller bust as well.

Printed and colored tops are the most flattering

If you are pear shaped the first thing you will want to do is lengthen your figure as this will help you to look less bottom heavy. To do this you will need to balance your hips and shoulders while still showing off your curves. As a pear shape your will want to draw attention to your top half, from fun colors, printed tops or extra detailing on the neckline. The main aim for all of this is to draw attention away from your hips. You will also want to ensure that your tops do not finish around the hips as this will draw extra attention to the area.

Tailored lines on your bottom half

Something darker and slimming on your bottom half will work a treat. Some dark wash jeans, a dark pencil skirt or an A-line skirt will work a treat here. You do not however always need to wear black on your bottom half but you do need to make sure it is solid in color and darker than whatever you have on top. Whatever you wear on your bottom you should always aim for tailored trousers or an A-line skirt, which works well as a base for a brilliant array of tops which will draw away gaze from your heavier midsection.

Boot cut or flared jeans or Pants

Flared pants or a boot cut leg helps to draw eyes away from your hips and therefore creates a much more flattering line.

Tunic tops or dresses will flatter your figure

A well-fitting tunic top or dress helps to create some length, which will elongate your figure. Tunics are a great style which will help to accentuate your upper body and as well as drawing attention away from your lower body it will help you to appear taller and leaner at the same time.

Jackets will help to flatter you

Jackets are a brilliant choice for pear shaped women because it creates a distraction around the neck area as well as adding some structure to your shoulder area, which will draw attention away from your hips.

Make sure you show off your shoulders and neckline

Pear shaped women will want to show off their shoulders by wearing off the shoulder tops or at least one shouldered tops. These tops draw eyes immediately to the area and away from your midsection. Accessories wise you can try scarves or statement necklaces which all bring eyes to your upper body.
