How to style a winter date night

If you are not a fan of the colder weather then you might find late fall, winter and early spring a difficult time when it comes to working out what fashion choices to make. When it comes to going out, whether it be on a date night, out for dinner with friends or to any other formal gathering finding something to wear that is both stylish and warm throughout the colder months of the year can be a little bit of a challenge. For today’s post we are going to be looking at the best items you can wear for a more formal night out to keep yourself looking stylish, on trend and best of all as warm as you can be when it is cold outside.

Dresses:

You will find dresses work whatever the season, no matter the time of year, it is how you accessorize them and what you add to them which will make them season appropriate. Choosing a simple fit and flare dress will suit most body shapes and will ensure you can add a number of items, without looking silly or it clashing, which will help you throughout the winter months.

Pantyhose:

When wearing a dress throughout the colder months you will want to definitely add some warm pantyhose. Pantyhose comes in many different varieties but a thicker pair that look like wool will help to keep your legs warmer when wear a dress. Many people avoid dresses throughout the colder months but by just simply adding a warm pair of pantyhose can open up your entire wardrobe again.

Boots:

Boots are the perfect addition for the winter, they help to keep your feet (and legs if you choose a knee high pair) warmer and also look great paired with dresses too. Both ankle boots and knee high boots are perfect for a night out. You can choose a heeled variety or flats if that is how you are most comfortable.

Knitwear:

Keeping warm throughout the colder months is paramount and you might want to pair your dress with something a bit warmer, especially if you have short sleeves. Despite wearing a winter coat on top you might want something to keep you warm while you are inside and your coat is off, plus it gives you extra warmth when you are outside too. Choose a warm cardigan or even a fitted blazer as an extra layer.

Winter coat:

When the coldest months of the year are upon us you will not want to go out without your winter coat. Despite them being heavier than normal you will be thankful you did not scrimp and throw on a lighter jacket instead. Also be sure to wear you scarf and gloves and maybe even a hat if your hairstyle will allow it.
