Must-Have Fall Essentials for Your Wardrobe

There’s a nip in the air…leaves are changing… Fall is here… and Winter is on its way. Now is the perfect time to snap up those must-have pieces to update your wardrobe before the cold weather hits and everyone else has already beaten you to it! These few key pieces will work beautifully with what you already have, which is perfect for your budget as well. Thankfully, a little Fall style goes a loooong way.

  • Vest – You know how miserable it is if you’re out and find that you’ve dressed inappropriately for the weather. You’re either freezing, or sweating, and by then it’s too late. So the key to being both comfortable and stylish is layering. That’s what vests are all about. The hottest trends this season are the puffer style, faux fur, and quilted textures.
  • Scarf – Of course you need a scarf, but not just any scarf will do! Blanket scarves are all the rage right now, mainly because they are just so darn versatile. They can wrap your neck, be worn draped over the shoulders as a wrap, even worn long around the neck and cinched at the waist by a thin belt. So chic!
  • Hat – The wool floppy hat with a medium-wide brim (not so long it’s ridiculously flopping in your face) is ideal for keeping your head warm… and the rest of you looking fab. Even if it’s more in a fedora style, as long as the brim is wide enough, and the material is felt, your look will be on point!
  • Faux fur – This is a trend we see in different pieces each Fall season. This year, loads of stylistas are rocking faux fur in the form of a stole or scarf/snood, but you could also opt for the ever-popular vest style (just be sure to keep the look classy, not caveman-ish) or the comfy fur-lined hood.
  • Poncho – If you aren’t used to taking fashion risks, this one might leave you a bit doubtful. But trust us, a poncho, especially when paired with skinny jeans and tall, low-heel boots, can never be wrong!
  • Cross-body satchel – No need to put away your well-loved tote, but nothing says you can’t add a smaller, more practical bag to your style arsenal for Fall. The cross-body style allows you to go truly hands-free, and the satchel style, while so hot right now, is also a constant classic.
  • Polish – As those sumptuous Fall colors start filtering into our wardrobe, they too should start appearing on our nails. It’s a quick, easy, and inexpensive way to embrace the hues of the season. Try a luscious dark berry, oxblood, or even a moody dark wine color.
  • Comfy flats – Sure, there will be lots of boots, both high-heeled and low, and booties of all shapes and colors this Fall. But don’t neglect a lovely flat to spice up an outfit! Comfy and casual, why not try out a suede pointy-toe in a pop of color, or a leather menswear Oxford style, or even a pair of classic moccasins? What a delightful change of pace!
