Preparing your wardrobe for fall

As summer draws to a close, school and college is starting up again and as the evenings draw in and the cooler weather starts to approach it is time to think about what to put in our fall wardrobe. It is a time when we start wearing cosy sweaters, cute hats and eat or drink pumpkin spice everything, so what should we be marking out as an essential in our fall wardrobe this year.

Cosy sweaters

Almost a given for fall going into winter for most parts of the northern hemisphere, and if you live somewhere warm we are jealous of you. As summer turns to fall you are going to feel a little nip in the air all the more so be prepared with either a warm cardigan or a cosy sweater. As fall really sets in you will be glad of a cosy sweater on a daily basis to keep you warm the whole day long.

Jeans

Jeans are the perfect wardrobe essential all year round, from denim cut offs in the summer to full length jeans in the winter, with a cropped leg version in between. Skinny jeans are a great option as they work so well with boots, which you are probably going to be wearing a lot of throughout the fall and winter. Other great options for winter jeans are boyfriend jeans or boot cut jeans, although you might want to avoid anything with rips in as they tend to be a bit cold to tolerate throughout the winter.

Boots

For those of you who love fall and winter for it is the perfect time to start thinking about what kind of boots you want to get this winter. A pair of knee high boots always look great teamed with skinny jeans and an oversized sweater, or even great with a dress or skirt with pantyhose. In recent year ankle boots have really come back into their own, and are often worn with skinny jeans or skinny cargo pants and even suit some skirts too. If you are on the short side or like to wear heels then a pair of heeled boots are the perfect choice for your fall and winter wardrobe. For those of you who are a bit taller or do not find any comfort in heeled shoes or boots there are a large number of flat boots available and look just as great as their heeled alternatives.

A coat

An almost given for fall and winter (and even spring too) in most parts, so grab yourself a coat (or even a few) to see you through the winter season. We are only just thinking about the arrival of fall but it does not hurt to be prepared. As the seasons change a lighter coat will be preferable as you will find yourself feeling cooler and needing a coat will become more common. As fall really gets going and we head towards winter you might want to consider what winter coat will suit you best, but tune in in a few weeks’ time where we will be helping you find the right winter coat for you.
