Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon Respond to Chris Noth Allegations In Joint Statement

In a joint statement that ran across all three And Just Like That… stars’ social media accounts, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon have responded to the accusations that fellow Sex and the City actor Chris Noth sexually assaulted multiple women.

The statement is short and to the point, but shows support for Noth’s alleged victims. “We are deeply saddened to hear the allegations against Chris Noth,” the statement reads. “We support the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences. We know it must be a very difficult thing to do and we commend them for it.”

The three are the first And Just Like That… cast members to publicly respond to the news that broke in The Hollywood Reporter on Dec. 16. (In an interview with ELLE.com published Dec. 17, AJLT actress Bridget Moynahan said, “It would be inappropriate for me to comment on things I don’t have any knowledge of.”) Only a few days prior, Noth had made his supposedly triumphant return to the Sex and the City story, only for his character, Mr. Big, to die of a heart attack after finishing a Peloton ride in the first episode. The death caused such a frenzy online that Peloton released an advertisement with Noth—an ad that the company quickly pulled once the allegations came out a few days later.

“Every single sexual assault accusation must be taken seriously,” the company said in a statement. “We were unaware of these allegations when we featured Chris Noth in our response to HBO’s reboot.”

In The Hollywood Reporter piece, two women, who were given the pseudonyms “Zoe” and “Lily,” provided separate accounts of how the actor allegedly assaulted them after striking up earlier flirtatious exchanges. One incident was said to have taken place in 2004, while the other was in 2015. On Dec. 16, a third victim came forward with a piece in The Daily Beast, claiming that she had been assaulted in 2010.

Noth has denied the allegations in two separate statements, one to THR and one to The Daily Beast. To THR, he sent the following response: “The accusations against me made by individuals I met years, even decades, ago are categorically false. These stories could’ve been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago—no always means no—that is a line I did not cross. The encounters were consensual. It’s difficult not to question the timing of these stories coming out. I don’t know for certain why they are surfacing now, but I do know this: I did not assault these women.”

To The Daily Beast, his publicist responded: “Noth denies this as ever happening and has no idea who this woman is… The story is a complete fabrication, and the alleged accounts detailed throughout read like a piece of bad fiction. As Chris stated yesterday, he has and would never cross that line.”
