The Best Trending Peach Lipstick for Every Skin Tone

As fall transitions us to cooler months, we’re partnering with our favorite style bloggers to show us how they wear this season’s hottest trends. This week, we’re welcoming Liz of With Wonder & Whimsy, Grace of Color & Grace, and Tawny of Glamorously Mommy to share how they pick peach and apricot lipsticks that work for their skin tones.

Each year, the fall season brings the return of our favorite clothing, makeup and accessory trends – from blanket scarves and deep eye shadow to sweaters and ankle booties, we typically know what to expect when it comes to autumn fashion and beauty. But this season, we’re seeing a cool weather lip color we’ve never rocked in years past: peach/apricot. Since this hue is new to our fall makeup regime, we asked a few of our blogger friends to show us the best ways to wear it with every skin tone.

Peach and apricot lip shades are such a fun new trend for fall! These warm, golden hues offer a fresh alternative to darker autumn colors. While wine and berry lipsticks create a cooler, moodier look, peach and apricot cosmetics create a warmer, amber glow.

I have fair, rosy skin, and warmer peaches and apricots work surprisingly well with my complexion. Look for a lip color in soft peach that leans pinker than it does brown. I suggest softer, lighter shades over bolder, brighter shades, especially if you’re trying to achieve an everyday look. This Revlon Ultra HD Lip Lacquer in Petalite 540 offers a glossy, shimmering peach finish. I used this lustrous lacquer to inspire the rest of my palette for an easy autumn makeup look.

Complement a soft peach lip color with eye shadows in warm, peachy browns. I used a creamy ivory on the brow bone to highlight my eyes and brighten my face. I then applied a soft Terra Cotta shadow to the lid and a darker coppery brown to the crease. Orange and brown sit opposite blue on the color wheel, making blue eyes pop against warmer eye shadows like this. Apply a lengthening and volumizing mascara to draw your lashes up and out for a flirty, fluttery look. And for your cheeks, choose a blush in soft, warm peaches and browns for a golden ginger glow.

Finish your face with a peachy pout. A shimmering gloss like Revlon’s Ultra HD Lip Lacquer lets you build up the application for a sheer, subtle finish one day and a more pigmented look the next. Get experimental with your lip shades this fall, and give that fair complexion an autumn glow in pretty peach and apricot!

Warm Complexion

Fall is in the air, which means it’s time to start thinking about how to transition from bright summer lip colors to autumn appropriate shades. Believe it or not, peach and apricot hues are a great choice for this season. I typically pair them with a minimal look, because I want the lip to be the focus of my makeup.

I have warm tan skin, so I often look to peach or apricot colors to complement my skin tone instead of a typical nude. However, there a couple of things I look for when choosing the right color for my skin: depth, opacity and finish.

First, let’s talk about depth. Because I have tan skin and darker lips, it’s important I chose a shade with the same depth as my skin (otherwise the color will look chalky). So when I’m looking for a shade that’s right for me, I often lean toward a color with a bit more brown in it.

Now, you may be thinking, “What is opacity and what does it have to do with anything?” For me, it has a lot to do with how I choose my lipstick! I mentioned above that I have really pigmented lips, so I prefer opaque products to cover up the darkness around my lip line. As you can see below, the lip liner I chose completely covers any darkness and makes my lipstick wear longer.

Here, I used a Rimmer 1000 Kisses Lip Liner in the color Spice to line and fully fill in my lip. Then, I topped it with a Revlon lipstick in the color Peach Me! It’s a deeper peach with a touch of shimmer to it.

Finally, the finish! I love a good glossy lip – especially when I’m wearing bright colors. I tend to have naturally dry lips, so when I’m doing a bold lip I prefer to add a gloss. It makes my lips looks smooth and the color really pop! Here I used a beautiful lip gloss shade from L’Oréal Infallible called Sunset, which is a peach hue with lots of shimmer to add some highlight to this look.

No matter your skin tone, these tips will work for you, too! Just remember makeup is fun, so try different things until you find what looks best on you. And don’t forget all of these products are available at your local Meijer!

I have always loved lipstick with peachy tones! This shade makes my skin appear clearer and brighter, so I use it when I want to look more youthful and well-rested. Thanks to this universally flattering hue, my 43-year-old face still looks quite young.

Peach lipsticks can range from corals to apricots, and even include bright orange shades, as well. I have used bold orange lipstick for years and still love it, but I recently visited Meijer and found a lighter, more feminine color called Coral Cat. It’s from the current Katy Perry and CoverGirl collaboration!

Since we’re currently transitioning from summer to fall, I chose autumn-themed colors on my eyes. A little brown smoky eye brightens up my eyes, but doesn’t steal the spotlight from my pretty lips.

For a more cohesive and unified look, I used the same lipstick on my cheeks as blush, and simply patted it on to blend in.

Tah dah! Here is the finished look. Still not sure if your skin can handle this color? Take a look at these photos of me wearing the shade with a red dress.

It looks super pretty with black and white, too!

So, there you have it. No matter what you wear or what your skin tone is, the peach trend (coral, apricot or orange) looks great on everyone. Peach lipstick will give you a warm, yet skin-brightening glow, so put it on your shopping list and make sure to try one next time you are at Meijer. You may be surprised just how flattering the color will look on you!
