Your Perfect Spring Capsule Wardrobe

You have probably heard the term “capsule wardrobe” a lot over the past few season. Wonder why it’s so popular? Well, capsule wardrobes are great to streamline your closet and make the most out of each and every piece. Sure, we’ve all got a few of those “I just had to have it” items, the ones that made you so excited (at the time), but in reality, just sit at the back of your closet for years, gathering dust…still with the price tag on. We’re not saying that a capsule wardrobe will prevent those momentary lapses in judgements altogether, but it will sure help you narrow your focus on what really works (and looks drop-dead gorgeous) on you, thereby reducing those impulse, overly trendy, emotion-based purchases that do nothing but eat up your money and hording much-needed room in your closet. And we just so happen to have some beautiful suggestions for starting your perfect Spring capsule wardrobe right here…

  • Color – Pantone kept a close eye on the Spring 2016 runways at Fashion Week and found 10 shades that are going to be huge, including Buttercup, Fiesta, Flash Green, and Peach Echo, just to name a few. It’s a good bet that adding pieces like this, this, this, and this, in these shades will freshen your wardrobe right up!
  • Shoe variety – Having too many shoes is one problem that most women would love to have. But going from Winter to Spring can be a tricky transition in terms of shoes. Chances are, it will be a bit wet and muddy, both from those infamous Spring showers, but also from the thaw of Winter. In addition to your sneakers, flats, booties, and dress sandals, be sure you have a good pair of Wellies, an easy pair of waterproof slip-ons, and a sturdy pair of waterproof walking boots.
  • Skirts/bottoms/dresses – Yes, it’s Spring…but it might not be “Summer dress” weather just yet. That means you will still likely be doing some light layering. Don’t overlook both the color and flirty allure of short, full skirts like this, skater dresses, like this, and cropped pants in bright colors, playful patterns, and flowy wide legs.
  • Springtime-y accessories – Springtime accessories are all about strategically adding style and color while adding warmth. Look for bright cardigans like this and this… long, light, and colorful scarves like this, this, and this… and layering jackets like this classic denim, light cotton military parka, and cool cropped moto.
