How to prepare yourself for winter

November is here and while fall is still in full swing and for many of us the leaves on the trees are looking amazing winter is undoubtedly just around the corner. Cosy nights combined with the cold snow or frost means we are all much more interested in keeping ourselves warm and cosy both indoors and outdoors, so stick with us while we run through some of the essentials to get you through the winter.

Winter Jacket:

If there is one item that is essential to see you through the cold and bitterness of winter it is a warm winter jacket. If you spend a lot of time outside then you will want to make sure you get yourself something which is really going to work for you, from keeping your warm and dry to ensuring that it will be suitable for any outside activities. Something with padding or a down jacket will work perfectly in the cold winter weather.

Base Layer:

When the weather really gets cold you might want to consider a base layer for underneath your clothes. A base layer really does provide that extra level of warmth and protection against the cold.

Tops:

Winter provides us with a number of different wardrobe options from the summer, with long sleeved t-shirts, sweaters, hooded tops and knitwear being among the few. Knitwear is right on trend, from knitted sweaters to cardigans, whereas a long sleeved t-shirt, a regular sweater or a hooded top will help you to keep nice and warm no matter what the weather is outside.

Pants:

When the coldness descends it is often our legs that are left feeling cold. If you are spending extended periods of time outside you will want to ditch the denim and opt for a pair of pants that will retain the heat a little better.

Winter Accessories:

When winter hits the last thing you will want to be without, except everything else on this list, is your winter accessories, including warm socks, a scarf, hat and gloves. When the cold it nipping at your toes the last thing you want is freezing cold feet, especially if you are going to be spending an extended period of time outside. A pair of thick socks, particularly those designed for use when hiking will help to keep your winter feet nice and toasty. For time spent outside a pair of gloves, scarf and a hat are winter wardrobe must haves.

Boots:

When picking footwear for the winter remember you are not just looking for style but practicality too. Depending on where you live winter could mean bitter cold, snow, ice or even rain, so you will want to make sure you are prepared. Beat the snow and rain in one go with a great pair of rainboots.
