Fashion to Fitness: Help Yourself Get Fit In the Fall

With summer almost over, you are probably worrying about falling back into some old habits – namely, not going to the gym or working out as much as you should. Most of us use the fact that it is so cold outside as the reason why we don’t exercise. You shouldn’t do that and don’t have to anymore.

Instead, invest in some seasonal workout gear that will allow you to stay comfortable and get out there to exercise more. Here are some great basics to start your journey toward staying (or getting) fit this fall:

Get Climbing

As everything starts to die, pathways and mountains clear up quite a bit. This offers you a great opportunity: you can start climbing more. This is a great way to get a full body workout (especially if you have to use your arms to help you along the way) that is also fun. If you live somewhere where the leaves change, you get an even better experience.

Make sure to invest in climbing gear that helps you to remain poised, even if you hit some tough areas. Don’t sacrifice your fashion by wearing hiking boots, instead keep your cute running shoes on and add shoe chains that you can personalize to your exact foot size.

Keep Your Legs Free to Move

Many people believe that working out in the fall and winter means that you should put baggy sweatpants on to keep warm, but that isn’t always the case. You want to keep your legs free to move about as you run, jog, bike, or even walk. Invest in a pair of high-performance leggings that hold your legs in and still keep you warm. There are fleece lined leggings for the days when it is truly cold, but think of wearing leggings as a way to ensure that you are moving enough – if you are cold, you can go faster.

If it makes you more likely to work out, ensure that your leggings are cute and make you feel good.

Keep Your Arms Free

Remember when someone told you that the more you move your arms, the faster your legs will go? There’s actually truth to that! On the days when it is chilly but not too cold, instead of wearing a bulky sweater or hoodie, invest in a sleek running vest that will keep your core warm but allow complete movement of your arms.

These fit tight to your body so they won’t move with every step and they come in many different styles and varieties – so you can look cute when you run by your neighbors’ houses.

Have Good Sneakers

As the weather gets chillier, frost and ice become a distinct reality for many people. You want to have running shoes that are still in fighting shape when you hit those icy patches. Even if you do slip, good quality running shoes will keep your foot stabilized, minimizing the amount of pain you feel.

Most importantly, look for running shoes that have some tread so your foot doesn’t slip around on the wet road or running path.

Cover Up

Once it gets too cold, most of us will use that as a reason why we cannot go out. Don’t do that! Instead, invest in a jacket that is light enough that it won’t get in the way of our workouts but still heavy enough to keep us warm. A good running coat brings those two qualities together and still look cute. Get it in a basic color or even match it to your sneakers for some fashion.

No matter what you do, it is important that you get running this autumn.
