Chelsea Clinton, Marcus Samuelsson, and More Headline Hearst’s Eco-Conscious Living Summit

Earlier this morning, at the tail end of Earth Month, Hearst doubled down on its longstanding commitment to sustainability by hosting its third annual Eco-Conscious Living Summit at Lincoln Center, to be followed by a virtual summit on Friday afternoon.

Attendees gathered at the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse for a light breakfast of mini egg frittatas, yogurt parfaits, and bagels before sitting for welcoming remarks from Leah Johnson, EVP, chief communications, and marketing and advocacy officer at Lincoln Center; Debi Chirichella, president of Hearst Magazines; and Hillary Koota, executive director of strategic partnerships at Hearst Magazines.

The theme for the day’s event was “Building a Regenerative Future for Our Children.” ELLE’s very own digital director, Claire Stern Milch, Cosmopolitan editor-in-chief Jessica Giles, Good Housekeeping home design director Monique Valeris, Esquire editor-in-chief Michael Sebastian, and Men’s Health editor-in chief Richard Dorment all moderated panels on topics ranging from the climate’s impact on young children to regenerative farming, food security, and ocean restoration with the likes of Chelsea Clinton, chef and restaurateur Marcus Samuelsson, Philippe and Ashlan Cousteau, and more. One of the most pertinent takeaways came from Cousteau herself, who shouted “fuck sustainability!” with a smile before preaching the importance of regeneration.

Thanks to generous sponsors, including 1 Hotels, FEED, Organic Valley, and Origins, guests were also treated to eco-friendly gift bags containing travel tumblers and clean beauty products. There was even a display of snacks in reusable containers built to replicate a hotel mini bar.

In case you missed it, you’re in luck: This year’s Eco-Conscious Living Virtual Summit will be held tomorrow, Friday, April 26 at 12 P.M. ET. Tune in to hear Hearst editors speak with industry leaders for “A Day of Conversation and Ideas that Inspire Action.” They will further discuss potential solutions to reverse damage done to our planet, along with topics such as deforestation and sustainable design.
