Every September marks a season of new beginnings. Summer is finally over, kids are back in school, and New York Fashion Week is officially upon us. This year is shaping up to be the biggest one in recent memory, with just over 100 designers showing IRL and online, including a few Europeans. We’re hitting the streets to catch all the happenings in real time, and our editors are capturing content faster than you can say “runway.” Keep scrolling for our roundup of highlights from each day, from runway looks to A-list sightings and anything and everything between. Day 1: Thursday, Sept. 8
My caffeine intake typically doubles to make it through fashion week. The first stop of the morning—a party to celebrate the launch of Dior’s new J’adore scent—was unrelated to the day’s shows, but fueled me up for running around the city with a very chic gold latte nonetheless.—Margaux Anbouba, Beauty Editor
Saks was handing out bumps at its annual NYFW party co-hosted by Chloë Bailey—of caviar, that is. (You have to keep it classy.) Pair that creative app with its signature drink, the L’Avenue Cosmopolitan, and sightings of James Charles and James Harden, and you’ve got a perfect start to the chaos that is fashion week.—Madison Rexroat, Fashion and Accessories Assistant
My first show of the season was emerging designer Lu Chen, whose collection of surreal gowns and pretty damn perfect utilitarian skirts juxtaposed wonderfully with its setting, right in the heart of Flatiron. Bringing fashion to the streets has a whole new meaning!—Kevin LeBlanc, Fashion Associate
I’m not gonna lie, I cried my eyes out last night at the Lionne show, when designer Latoia Fitzgerald’s boyfriend, pro basketball player Rajon Rondo, proposed to her RIGHT in front of me at the end of the show. A truly unforgettable moment.—Jade Vallario, Market Editor
My main thought when I arrived at Opening Ceremony’s 20th anniversary party: What year is it? Held at Schimanski, an industrial warehouse-slash-night club in Brooklyn, the celebration of OC20 felt like a time warp to the early 2000s, when indie sleaze was at its peak. Fittingly, Cobrasnake, the unofficial documenter of Y2K nightlife, was in attendance taking photos. Bowen Yang and Ilana Glazer got in on the action, too.—Claire Stern, Digital Deputy Editor

Day 2: Friday, Sept. 9
I barreled through a crowd of tourists on 34th Street last night trying to make it to the Fendi show on time, when suddenly everyone on the sidewalk stopped walking forward and starting stepping backward. Men in black suits were yelling while a black SUV with tinted windows pulled up, holding none other than Kim Kardashian (in Fendi couture, naturally). I nearly broke my ankle for the shot, but it was worth it.—Jade Vallario, Market Editor
I love going backstage at Collina Strada because designer Hillary Taymour knows the power of beauty. Case in point: She tapped Bella Hadid’s hairstylist, Evanie Frausto, to create 10-foot braids for many of models. Each one was hand-painted with an Aztec clay face mask (yes, the Amazon bestseller). Terrence Zhou of Bad Binch TongTong gave us a performance instead of a runway. Dancers flittered and floated in his sculptural, body-defying pieces that are (literally) made to move. These two dancing sunbursts made out of what looks like pool floaties encapsulate his silly yet sensual ethos.—Kevin LeBlanc, Fashion Associate

Harwell Godfrey and De Beers Group’s cocktail party at Temple Bar was so chic and intimate that I straight up forgot I was going to the Fendi show. I mean, just look at this Charity Heart pendant featuring an ethically sourced natural diamond from De Beers. One hundred percent of proceeds support Everytown for Gun Safety; designer Lauren Harwell Godfrey told me she’s already raised $250,000 and hopes to get to a million. Day 3: Saturday, Sept. 10
Last night in Brooklyn, Heaven by Marc Jacobs took fashion week by storm with a celebration as star-studded as it was utterly chaotic. Charli XCX, PinkPantheress, and, of course, campaign star Doja Cat took to the stage to perform for a crowd of eager ravers and industry folk. After stopping by Jason Wu at Pier 17, I popped into one of my favorite shops, Club Vintage, nearby. Do I need to purchase anything else for fashion week? Hell no. But I was very tempted by the 2000s-era Dior, Vada shades, and tons of fall-ish easy dresses…so much so that I may have shown up to Eckhaus Latta’s East Village show with a shopping bag in tow.—Margaux Anbouba, Beauty Editor
You never know where you’ll find yourself between shows during NYFW. If you need a snack, a phone charger, or just a break, you can usually pop into a coffee shop. Other times, you’ll find yourself at Live Axe, the axe-throwing bar across the street from the Private Policy show, before the Heaven by Marc Jacobs party. Don’t even “axe” to be added to the list. Full disclosure: One of the main reasons I wanted to go to the Givenchy party was the venue at Nine Orchard, a fancy new hotel in Dimes Square. Day 4: Sunday, Sept. 11
On Sunday night, everyone’s favorite drag queen Symone walked the Luar show (which, ICYMI, was a family reunion of epic proportions). She can check walking NYFW off her bucket list, and I can check seeing her in person off mine.—Kevin LeBlanc, Fashion Associate
Day 5: Monday, Sept. 12
The Intermix dinner at Casa Cipriani, co-hosted by Ronny Kobo and Faith Connexion, drew quite the crowd of fashion industry power women, including Ellen von Unwerth, Nicky Hilton, and ELLE’s own Nina Garcia. There were some men, too; mainly the always-immaculately-dressed Jordan Catalano Jared Leto. His floral robe-and-fanny pack combo was on point, per usual.—Claire Stern, Digital Deputy Editor
No one shouted out, “Hermione, I love you,” at the Prada dinner at The Nines celebrating Emma Watson, but she felt the adoration anyway. Watson is the face of the brand’s newest scent, Paradoxe (she also made her directional debut with the film ad). Not only did she have a cute shag haircut—she gave a touching speech about how she shot the film in three days, with a mostly female crew. The scent is a rich and amber-y and smells sweet and strong (imagine like an old fashioned)—and sort of like Emma herself.—Kathleen Hou, Beauty Director
Day 6: Tuesday, Sept. 13
I knew Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker were in love, but seeing her profess said love in the form of her new collection for Boohoo was enough to persuade even the most cynical onlookers. Models wore Blink-182 band tees while walking down the runway to “What’s My Age Again?” After the finale, America’s favorite emo couple walked hand in hand to resounding applause from the crowd of influencers, with Kourtney holding a bouquet of red roses, just like the ones Barker proposed to her with. Day 7: Wednesday, Sept. 14
A nice meal at fashion week is always appreciated. Today, I can thank Amazon Luxury Stores and the Latin American Fashion Summit (aka LAFS) for co-hosting a gorgeous lunch at the Times Square Edition hotel to celebrate Latin American design during Hispanic Heritage Month, and delivering a sobering message. Carlos Paez Rodríguez, a Uruguayan survivor of the famous plane crash in the Andes mountains (which provided the basis of the book and movie Alive), shared his tragic story in detail. It really put things into perspective and, of course, made us all appreciate the food even more.—Claire Stern, Digital Deputy Editor
My first-ever front row experience was better than I could have dreamt it—and Wiederhoeft’s show did play out something like a fever dream. Ballet dancers twirled around a makeshift playground while a parade of models in flashes of fantasy-inspired looks (think: neon makeup, chainmail skirts, tulle capes, and metallic ruffles) strut around them.
