Easy Ideas for Festival Season

If you are a music lover, then you know that the grass getting greener, flowers blooming, and buds appearing on trees aren’t just the undeniable signs that Spring is here…they are also the undeniable signs that festival season is here too! All over the world, in almost every country, Spring plays host to amazing music festivals and shows, some, like the famous Coachella, lasting for days. But, because it is Spring, and Spring is probably the most unpredictable weather season, no matter where it is you will be attending, you will need to plan your outfit (or outfits) strategically. Luckily, we happen to have some great tips to get you started right here…

  • Start with the basics – Before you even consider trends and tassels, you need to consider comfort. Start with a few basic pieces you know you’ll be comfortable in. We’re talkin’ jeans, chambray shirts, t-shirts, and denim jackets. You probably won’t be wearing them all at the same time, but wearing at least one will ensure your outfit will be moderately comfortable.
  • Layering is key – Not only might you be dealing with Spring’s unpredictable temperatures and sudden showers, but many of these festivals last alllll day, from the morning into the late night hours, so your outfit will need to be able to keep up with all the sun/rain/cool temps/hot temps/dancing. Layering on a long sleeved top, shirt, or light jacket will help to keep you warm and dry when needed, and when it’s not, it can be tied around your waist.
  • Don’t be afraid to mix prints and pieces – Festivals today seem to all channel a little bit of the classic Woodstock vibe. Relaxed, free and easy, happy. So it’s the perfect time to step outside your comfort zone a bit to mix and match girly and tomboy, flowy and edgy, modern and vintage. Think eyelet lace top with distressed boyfriend jeans…leather-look leggings with a flowy Hippie-esque shirt. Chances are you’ll never see any of these people again, so why not try something new?
  • Keep accessories to a minimum (except a cute carry-all bag) – You will be dancing, walking, sitting. You might be bumped, nudged, and pushed. While accessories are cute, they will only get tangled, snagged, and in the way at a festival. So keep it to a minimum. Maybe a scarf, a dangling pair of earrings, a couple bracelets. The most important thing that day will be your bag, which will not only keep your necessities close at hand, but needs to be big enough to carry pieces of clothing you shed, water bottles, band memorabilia, etc. Now is not the time for a tiny, cute-but-useless clutch. Your bag needs to be hands-free, so a cute backpack like this or this, or a cross-body like this, will be just what you need to dance till dawn!
