With the Winter Olympics fully underway, you might be wondering how to bring more Americana into your wardrobe this spring – after all, it is going to be a huge trend, even long after the Olympics are over this year. If you are looking to bring some American pride into your wardrobe in the most meaningful and respectful way, you only really want to add touches of red, white, and blue – you don’t want to wrap yourself in a giant flag.
Here are a few new ways to add an American edge to your wardrobe:
Use Your Shoes
Many people have various pieces of clothing in red, white, and blue, but have trouble wearing it altogether. One of the best ways is to use your shoes as a third option. You can wear jeans, a red top, and a pair of white shoes or a white dress, a great blue piece of statement jewelry, and red shoes. When you think about it this way, there are so many different ways to mix and match your existing wardrobe to get you where you want to be.
Of course, this also means that you probably don’t have to buy anything extra – but it sure will be fun to do so.
In a Sporty Style
While we all do use the Olympics as a time to come together with the rest of the world, one can’t forget that this is a celebration of sports and being physically active. This is also a great time to wear clothing that calls for sportslike activities, or just clothing that looks like you do, such as a great jacket or a pair of leggings.
There are so many ways to bring Americana into your fitness gear, and it might even give you a few more reasons to be physically active.
On Your Sleeve
If you aren’t interested in showing your American pride in your outfits, you may want to consider using your beauty routine to highlight it. Wearing red lipstick is a simple way to evoke your pride. Or you can wear a gradient eyeshadow design. Maybe you can even add some glitter! Something we have all done is paint our nails red, white, and blue or even do a little design.
Beauty is a great way to show off your pride because you can put it on and take it off easily without feeling too much of a burden.
With Literal Olympic Gear
Of course, there are going to be companies that try to take on Olympic Fever and design gear around it. Everyone from jewelry makers to clothing companies will produce Olympics gear that you can wear to cheer on your favorite Olympians. Make sure to find ones that are quality because they will become collector’s pieces over the next few years.
Remember that the Olympics happen every four years, so if you weren’t prepared for this Olympics season, you have another one coming up that you can prepare for in advance.
